1. About Me & The Project

Hello, welcome to the website. My name is Ian and I'm from the UK. I've been involved with gambling for over 35 years and during that time I've won and lost money, while gaining a considerable amount of experience and knowledge along the way.

Roulette Risk Management is an independent project built from my own gambling experiences, research and experimentation. The idea behind the website is to document and share what I've learned rather than simply keeping years of notes and research to myself.

2. Four Years of Roulette Research

Over approximately four years, I spent a huge amount of time recording, analysing and number-crunching live-dealer roulette results.

During those four years I tested a wide range of strategies and staking approaches, kept records and made notes about how they performed over the data I collected.

The more I researched, the more interested I became in the numbers, variance, staking and risk management rather than simply the outcome of individual spins.

3. Beyond Roulette & The Ground Is Key Name

My interest in gambling has also covered online slots and sports betting, including horse racing, darts, football and tennis. I explored different staking structures and approaches, always with the same basic idea of testing, recording and analysing the results.

The name Ground Is Key comes from my earlier involvement with horse racing. I found the condition and type of ground to be an important factor when assessing races, and I was fortunate to do well from my own horse-racing activities.

I kept the name when I moved into roulette research. Today, Ground Is Key is the website name and domain, while Roulette Risk Management is the main focus of the project.

4. Why I'm Sharing It Now

After four years of testing, recording and analysing roulette results, along with my wider gambling experiences, I reached a point where I felt I had achieved what I originally set out to do.

In many ways, it became a box-ticking exercise. I wanted to test the ideas, collect the data and see what I could learn from the experience.

I've now reached a point where I'm more interested in showing and sharing my findings than continuing to chase the next experiment.

The website is therefore a place to document my experiences, observations, research and findings from those years.
